The Engineering Section provides technical support to all sections of the Communication Center and statewide offices of State Services for the Blind.

Three main areas of support are provided. They include:

Tape Duplication

• Textbooks, vocational and leisure reading materials
• Radio Talking Book broadcasts of magazines and best selling books
• ADA required materials

• Cassette and Phonograph Talking Book machines
• Radio Talking Book receivers
• Broadcast and recording studio equipment
• Volunteer recording equipment
• Computer recording equipment

• Technological innovations for the Radio Talking Book
• New technology to serve consumers

The engineering staff includes an engineering manager, two electronic technicians, and two audio visual technicians. This highly trained, technically competent staff also provides training and support to dedicated volunteers who provide technical assistance in servicing talking book machines.
